Police Cadets Week |

This week is National Volunteer Police Cadets Week and we're celebrating what the Volunteer Police Cadets (VPC) programme is really about!
The VPC is not about recruiting young people into policing. It's about giving young people from all backgrounds the opportunity to build confidence, develop life skills, make new friends and contribute towards a positive difference in their communities. Across North Yorkshire, our cadets have been doing exactly that. Over the last year they have supported community events, delivered crime prevention messages, taken part in social action projects, raised awareness of issues affecting young people and represented their communities with pride.
Through their cadet journey, they develop valuable skills including teamwork, communication, leadership, resilience and problem-solving. Just as importantly they also gain confidence, a sense of belonging and the opportunity to have their voices heard. None of this would be possible without the dedication of our volunteer cadet leaders, police staff, police officers, special constables and community partners who give their time to support and mentor our cadets.
This week we celebrate every cadet, leader and volunteer who helps make the programme such a success. They are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are making a difference in North Yorkshire today. Thank you for everything you do, and happy National Volunteer Police Cadets Week!
